About Gomoku Online

Gomoku Online is a small independent project: one free five-in-a-row game, a handful of guides, no accounts, no downloads and no nonsense.

What this site is

The goal is simple — a gomoku board that loads instantly, works on any phone or computer, and is pleasant to play. No sign-up, no pop-ups, no forced app install. The game is a plain HTML canvas with a small built-in opponent; the guides are here because learning the shapes is the fun part of the game, and because a game page with no words is a dead end for anyone who arrives from a search engine.

How it is built

The site is static files: HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript. There is no back end, no database and no user accounts, which means there is nothing to hack and nothing to sign up for. The computer opponent is a small minimax search with pattern-based evaluation — not a neural network, just a few hundred lines of code trying to see one or two moves further than you.

Credits and contact

Gomoku is a traditional Chinese game known as wuziqi; the competitive form, renju, is governed internationally by the Renju International Federation. This site is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with any federation or tournament body.
